2013

 January 8         “Human Trafficking 101” Training at Trinity United Methodist Church – Wesley Hall (Corner of Whitesburg and Airport Road in Huntsville, AL) 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Presented the basic facts about what human trafficking is along with the stories of two survivors telling about their enslavement, rescue and survival. Approximately 200 individuals attended this training event.

February 5      February Meeting of the Task Force 2 p.m. at the National Children’s Advocacy Center; 6 new members joined the Task Force – all as a result of the January 8 training event.

February 11    Madison City Council Meeting, 6 p.m.  We presented to the Madison City Council, introducing ourselves and making them aware that human trafficking is becoming a serious problem in North Alabama.

September 3  September meeting of the Huntsville-Madison County Human Trafficking Task Force Announced that we are working with State Representative Jack Williams (Birmingham) to add a Safe Harbor Act to the existing Alabama Human Trafficking Law and to establish a state-wide Advisory Council for unifying efforts against human trafficking across the state of Alabama.

September 13 Youth Council Conference Chair Pat McCay spoke at the Youth Council Conference, 7:30 a.m. at the Children’s Rehabilitation Services office on Johnson Road.  Approximately 100 attended.

September 17   First United Methodist Church – UMW, 11:30 a.m., Scottsboro, AL.  Chair Pat McCay presented “Human Trafficking 101”.  Approximately 15 attended.

September 18   Madison Republican Women, Best Western Plus Hotel, Madison, AL, 11:00 a.m. Chair Pat McCay presented “Human Trafficking 101” to approximately 20 attendees.

September 19  West Precinct Community Watch Group, West Precinct on West Clinton Avenue, Huntsville AL, 6:00 p.m. Chair Pat McCay presented the basic facts of Human Trafficking to approximately 25 attendees, including 9 Huntsville Police Officers.

September 23  Alabama Juvenile Probation Officers Conference, Orange Beach, FL, 2:30 -4:00 p.m. Chair Pat McCay presented “Human Trafficking 101” to approximately 100 attendees.

October 1         October meeting of the Huntsville-Madison Human Trafficking Task Force 2 p.m. at the National Children’s Advocacy Center in Huntsville, AL

October 24      University Park Estates Community Watch meeting, Huntsville, AL 6:30 p.m. – Chair Pat McCay presented “Human Trafficking 101” to approximately 20 attendees.

October 28     Kiwanis Club, Huntsville, AL 6:30 – 8:00 p.m., Bob Wallace Avenue; Chair Pat McCay presented “Human Trafficking 101” to approximately 30 attendees.

November 5   Decatur Doctors, Decatur Country Club 6:00-8:00 p.m.   15 doctors attended; Chair Pat McCay presented “Human Trafficking 101”.
